AOY Anglers Choice Southeast Wisconsin Division Video 10-13-2011
Caleb and Dan won the AOY title in the Anglers Choice Southeast Wisconsin Division I run.  Below is the video of the season they had.

Whitewater Lake Tournament 10-8-11
I ran a tournament on Whitewater Lake Saturday.  This lake has a huge population of big bass but with the warm water temps for the fall the big fish did not present themselves.  We did have one over 4 lbs come in but the winning weight was only 10lbs brought in by Caleb and Dan.  This team also won the AOY title for the Southeast Wisconsin division I run.  You can visit the tournament director tab for the on the water video and full results.

Double Catch Lures Work 10-3-11
I have been testing some new Double Catch Lures the past week on Okauchee and Oconomowoc Lake.  Fishing has been on and off depending on wind and sun but I've landed some nice fish.  You can check out Double Catch Lures new lures coming out soon.  Also Ill have a video coming out soon with the lures in action.

Nagawicka Lake Tournament 10-1-11
I ran a tournament on Nagawicka Lake today.  The weather started cold but when the sun came out it was comfortable.  Water temps in the low 60s and smallies to track down the teams took off a little before 7am.  Caleb and Dan took first with over 15 lbs and Big Bass with a 4+ lber.  Sam and Ken took 2nd place with over 12lbs.  The Phelps took 3rd and received some Moes Bucks to eat a good meal.  Kurt and Kevin took 4th and also received some Moes Bucks for a lunch.  Next tournament is on Whitewater Oct 8th and all are welcome.  Click to see the full results and video.

Back from the BFL Super Tournament in Lacrosse
(9-12-2011)

I went out and found fish on pool 7 Friday but never fished for them on Saturday.  The fog rolled in and was to thick to run the river so I stopped in a location from last year to wait out the fog.  I knew it held fish but to my surprise it held 13.09 lbs of fish which I caught on a horny toad.  I made the cut for the second day in that spot and still had my fish on pool 7 to go to yet.  Well the second day the fish did not want anything to do with my frogs.  I only managed 2 fish and finished in 19th place.  The first day I made the right decisions but the second day I seemed to make all the wrong ones.

Rock Lake Tournament was a wet one.
 (9-3-2011)
I ran a tournament on Rock Lake today and it was wet almost all day.  Caleb and Dan have taken 2nd place in all my tournaments this year but finally broke free and took a win home.  Caleb and Dan had 13.70 lbs and much of the weight was caught on a jig. Visit the Tournament Director link above to see the results and video from the day.

Been fishing with the kids before they head back to school. (8-25-11)
The past few days I've taken my kids and some of the kids friends out fishing on Okauchee Lake.  We have had some fun catching bass and panfish.  Coming up on September 3rd Ill be running a tournament on Rock Lake and then heading to LaCrosse to start pre fishing for the BFL Super tournament.

Fishing Nagawicka Lake and Fox Chain this weekend 8-8-11
Went out to Nagawicka Lake with 5 other guys to fish for fun Saturday.  Only got 3 keepers on a tough day and it was good enough for 2nd place.  On Sunday I had a Anglers Choice tournament on the Fox Chain in Illinois.   I caught on keeper on a frog early then took 6 hours to get 3 more keepers on a wacky worm.  Then in the last hour I went back to the frog and got the last keepers of the day.  I finished in 17th place with a little over 7lbs.  Ill be off from tournaments for the next few weeks and then back to LaCrosse for the BFL super tournament.  The next few weeks I will be taking friends out and perhaps make another video so check back again soon.

BFL on Prairie Du Chien
7-31-11
I went up a day early to pre fish for the BFL and found the water high and muddy.  I also found that all my previous fishing areas had no weed growth and holding no fish.  I had one day to find some good weeds and clean water.  I did manage to find a few areas that help fish but none the size I needed to compete in the tournament.  I locked up with my Co Angler and started catch 2lb fish on frogs and before long I had a limit.  My Co got his a little while later and we locked back.  When we got back near the launch I found a spot that held 2 lb fish also and wish I would have fished it all day instead of running 40 miles.  I got what I could out of my spots and cant complain because with only one day of practice at least I found a limit for both me and my co anglers.  Next weekend Ill be on the Fox Chain in IL.

Ran the 4th of a 7 tournament trail on Pewaukee Lake Sunday
7-25-11

On July 24th teams took off from the Pewaukee Lake Public Launch to try and find some Pewaukee Lake monsters.  When they came in to weigh in many of the teams did.  4 bass of 4 lbs weighed in and a few more over 3 lbs.  Many anglers reported catching fish shallow and on frogs along with other techniques that they care not to share.  The team that won the tournament found the smallmouth again in deeper water.  The team started the day fishing shallow rock but that pattern did not hold up so they moved to deep water and found one spot for the 2nd tournament in a row that had smallies holding on it.  With just over 19lbs Charles and Justin took first place and with a 4.21lb smallmouth they also had Big Bass honors.  Coming in 2nd place again was the team of Dan Hight and Caleb Kuphall.  Dan reported catching his fish fairly shallow and yet again brought in over 16lbs and had a 4.17lb largemouth as a kicker.   Remember this team as this is the 4th 2nd place this year.   They also had another fish over 4lbs that we weighed in just for grins.   In 3rd place was the brothers Kurt and Kevin with 15.5lbs and a 4.14lb big bass.  And in 4th place with 14.26lbs was the Phelps and a 3.99lb largemouth for a kicker.  Trisha and Brian brought in over 13lbs  and Mike and Robert had over 11lbs.  The remainder of the teams had fish but less then 10lbs.   The next tournament will be on Rock Lake September 3rd and who will know if it will be largemouth or smallmouth to win.

As of now smallmouth have won 3 tournaments and largemouth have won 1 tournament.

Made a video of a day on Okauchee Lake
7-20-2011
Went out on Okauchee and caught a few fish and captured them on video.  Check out the video below.

Back from the Breath Taking Menominee River
7-19-11
I went up just past Crivitz Wisconsin to fish with my son and then one of my sponsors Peter Dress.  What a great weekend.  Fishing the Menominee River for bass and got a few pike also.  Peter owns Moes Southwest Grill and Crivitzland.com.  You might not get any cell phone reception but you really should get up north and fish a river system without any houses or buildings lining the shoreline.  I am going bake later this year or next spring for sure.  Its just great fishing all day and not worrying about what time it is and just watching eagles and other wildlife you don't get to see much down south.

Weekend of Tournaments - Mississippi River and Fox Chain
7-11-11
Long drives and less sleep to fish two tournaments.  The first was the BFL in Wabasha, MN.  I left my house at 11pm Friday night and arrived in Wabasha on the Mississippi River at about 3am.  Got about an hour of sleep and launched the boat to be ready for takeoff.  I caught a few keepers early in the morning and then went through a bit of a slow period catching pike and small bass for a few hours.  Then in the last hour of fishing I put all my biggest fish in the boat.  Most of the action was on frogs but a few fish came on Double Catch Lures.  I finished the tournament with 11-14lbs but a problem at the weigh in caused two of my fish to die and cost me a 1 lb penalty.  Lesson learned.  Never take your boat out of the water in a big tournament.
On Sunday I left for the Fox Chain in IL.  I knew this tournament would be a grind and I quickly started fishing slow.  I went with a wacky worm for most of the morning and boated 3 keepers.  I then went 2 hours without another keeper so I switched to my go to frog and started skipping docks with weeds and pads.  I did that for the last 2 hours and boated 2 more keepers.  I finished with a little over 8 lbs and in 8th place.
Next weekend Ill be heading to the Menominee River for the first time.

College Fishing Qualifier
(6/20/1)
I went to be an official for the college fishing qualifier on Winneconne Sunday and it was a great time.  I was paired with the team from Purdue and they are great kids.  The two ended up catching 4 fish for 7.15lbs.  They had the fifth fish on in the last hour and that would have them in the top 5 to make the cut to fishing the regional but the bass jumped and spit the hook near the boat.  Ill be off of fishing for two weeks and then back to a BFL in Wabasha.

Pewaukee Lake June 11th tournament
(6-11-11)
I ran a tournament on Pewaukee Lake today. It was a bit cool for June but the fish still bit.  You can check out the video and results in my tournament director section.  Next weekend Ill be on Winnebago again and then helping with the college fishing tournament.

Zone 5 Tournament on Bago
(6/6/2011)
I went up to Oshkosh, WI to fish in the zone 5 tournament.  I caught alot of fish but had a leak start about 9am.  I tried to keep fishing but water was coming in fast so I ran back to the launch to weigh in early.  I had 2 nice fish in the livewell and after pulling the boat out I found out that my livewell had a large crack in it.  Next weekend Ill be hosting a tournament on Pewaukee Lake.

Walker Signs Culling Bill
(6/5/2011)
I went out to watch Walker sign the culling bill.  FLW and BASS said they are already planning to hold some big tournaments in Wisconsin.  Happy this got done.

New Area of my Website Added
(6/2/2011)
I have added a new picture area.  This area will have some of the cool fish catches from the tournaments I run.  Check it out as I will update after each tournament that I run.  You can find the link under the Tournament Director tab or click here.  This weekend Ill be fishing the zone 5 tournament on Bago out of Oshkosh Wisconsin.

Nagawicka Lake on May 28th
(5/28/2011)
The 2nd tournament of the season was Saturday May 28th and anglers caught fish almost as well as they did on Rock Lake during the 1st tournament of the year.  It was a bit cool and windy during the day and anglers reported finding a number of good smallmouth on beds during practice.  Anglers still found some smallmouth on beds but many of the bigger ones would not lock on the beds as well as in previous practice days.  Even with high winds the team of Phelps won the day bed fishing with over 16lbs.  Michael and Kelly Phelps had 4 smallmouth and 1 largemouth and a 4.36 bass to anchor the win.  In 2nd place for the 2nd time this year Caleb and Dan brought in another solid limit of 15.05lbs.  The limit was anchored by a 4.45lb smallmouth and they were one of the few teams not site fishing.  Caleb and Dan caught most of the smallmouth on jerk baits in the wind.  The Big Bass of the tournament was a largemouth going 5.35lbs caught on a carolina rig by Leonard and Tom. We will be heading to Pewaukee for the next tournament.  Be sure to send in your registration.

Rock Lake Tournament on May 14th
(5/15/2011)

May 14th was a windy and cold day on Rock Lake but that didn’t stop teams from catching a lot of fish.  It was fun to watch the anglers catch fish in so many different ways.  I watched anglers using jerk baits, chatter baits, creature baits, jigs, wacky worms and more. The teams targeted staging fish and beading fish.  The winning team of Dale and Kevin Pavey would bring in over 16lbs using jerk baits.  They targeted smallmouth most of the day and it paid off big with over nine hundred dollars to bring home.  They also had a nice 4.32lb smallmouth that held big bass honors until Brian and Trisha brought up a 4.39lb largemouth to take home one hundred thirty dollars check.  In second place was Caleb and Dan with 13.4lbs of largemouth.  Caleb and Dan stayed on the main lake like are 1st place team to take home three hundred eighty dollars.  Thank you to all the anglers that came out to fish.  Some of the anglers also walked away with some gift certificates to Moes in Pewaukee.  If your looking for a good meal visit Moes on Capital Dr in Pewaukee.  The next tournament will be on Nagawicka Lake and should be another bass catching tournament.  I expect a lot of fish caught again as the weather improves.  Check out the video to see the anglers on the water action from Rock lake.

Back from the first BFL
(5/9/2011)
The thought about my BFL on the Mississippi River this past Saturday was Don't Ask.  I only got up to pre fish for about 5 hours and the river was 10ft above normal.  I found large pods of northern pike in areas I normally found bass.  I locked down a pool and when trying to lock back up I got stuck waiting for a barge to come through for over an hour.  Really looking forward to the next BFL and getting back on track.  Next weekend I'm running a tournament on Rock Lake and then fishing on the Fox Chain.

Fox Chain Tournament Windy and Slow
(5/1/2011)

I was on the Fox Chain for the first time this year for the Anglers Choice tournament.  The water was high and the tournament was No Wake all day.  I found fish around lilly pad stems but they all came up males.  Females could not be found and the fishing pressure was high.  I caught a good amount of small males but most were about 14inches.  By the end of the day I had only 2 keeps for about 3lbs.  Next up Ill be heading to the Mississippi River and I cant wait to fish and run away from other competitors.

Walmart Store Visit
(4/17/2011)
Was at the Walmart in Monona, WI today for the FLW ambassador program promoting fantasy fishing and talking with folks about getting involved in fishing.  It was a good time and I got the meet some nice people thinking about fishing or buying a fishing license as the season is just getting started in Wisconsin.  This coming week Ill be hanging out with family for Easter.  After Easter Sunday Ill be starting my pre fishing for upcoming tournaments in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Back From Choo Choo Division BFL on Lake Guntersville.
(4/11/2011)
Left Thursday night at 8pm and arrived on Lake Guntersville in Alabama at 8am Friday morning.  I fished all day Friday trying to find some new things and fish on beds.  I could not get much going except for finding some empty beds with fish running around them.  On tournament morning I went to a marina that I had caught 16lbs from just two weeks earlier and managed only 3 short fish.  That was a surprise to me because Lake Guntersville never produces short fish in my experience on it.  I went to an area I found empty beds in practice and right away lost a 5 lber on a trap.  I knew then the day was not going to be fun.  3 shorts and a lost 5lber in the first half of the day rarely make for a good tournament on Lake Guntersville.  I spent the next hour in that same area with beds after seeing the big fish I lost.  I then saw a fish bust some shed and tossed a Double Catch Lure near the area and got a 6lber in the boat.  That's when I made the bad decision to stay and keep fishing for those big fish instead of running some other areas trying to fill my limit.  3 hours later and no more fish in the boat and I headed back in.  I wanted to stay in areas that had less boats and not run around to much because the traffic on the lake was something more then I've ever seen before.  This bad tournament will not keep me from going back to Guntersville as it is a great fishery.  Looking forward to getting back on this lake again.

Entries starting to come in for Anglers Choice Division.
(3/22/2011)
Check out the Tournament Director tab and view who has started signing up for the Rock Lake tournament on May 14th.

Going Back to Guntersville
(3/17/2011)
I decided Guntersville was to much fun so I'm going back.  I signed up for the BFL on April 9th.
Looking forward to some warmer temps and big bass.

Back from Lake Guntersville TOC
(3/12/2011)
I spent a few days pre fishing and had a hard time finding fish grouped up for the Tournament of Champions put on by Anglers Choice.
When Day 1 started I visited a few spots that produced fish in practice but the water was high and dirty so I made a change to deeper water.  That move put me on 16.1 lbs for day one.  All the fish came out of one spot in about 15ft of water.   Unfortunately this is Lake Guntersville and anything under 20lbs a day means you don't have a shot so my tournaments was over after the first day.  It was a lot of fun and much warmer then last year.  I did manage a lot of 4 and 5 pound fish just not 5 of them in one day.  I caught most of my fish on The Wiggler from Double Catch Lures and rattle traps.

Ready The Boat
(3/1/2010)
I've started putting the boat back together and installing the new side scan and down scan unit I got over the winter.
Leaving in a few days to pre fish for the Anglers Choice Championship on Lake Guntersville.

Walmart Store Visit
(2/16/2011)
On April 16th I will be visiting the Walmart store in Monona Wisconsin near Madison for the fishing expo.
Ill have my boat on display and be hanging around the fishing department talking with adults and kids.
If you are in the area stop on out between 11am and 1pm.

2011 Schedule Has Been Updated
(1/18/2011)
I have updated my schedule to include some more tournaments.  Take a look and if you are at the same event stop on over.

2011 Schedule Is Out
(11/30/2010)
My 2011 schedule is posted on my schedule/results tab.  I have a few tournaments I will add in the coming weeks.  In 2011 season I will be fishing the BFL's, Anglers Choice and also running a series of tournaments in Wisconsin.  I hope to make it down south a few times to fish next season also.

Anglers Choice Schedule Is Out
(11/24/2011)
The tournaments I will be running for Anglers Choice South East Wisconsin division is posted under the Tournament Director tab.  In 2011 we will be fishing Rock Lake, Nagawicka Lake, Pewaukee Lake & Whitewater Lake.

The Tournament Fishing Season Is Over
I will not be heading to Pickwick so that will be the end of the tournament season.   Ill be going out and practicing my drop shot and other techniques I need to improve on during the cold month of November in Wisconsin.

One More Tournament

Looks like I will get out for one last tournament this year.  I will be heading to Alabama and fishing Pickwick Lake for the first time in the Chevy Wild Card tournament October 29th.  It is a two day tournament and should be lots of fun.  I have been going out to Oconomowoc Lake in Wisconsin catching smallmouth as I predict I will be catching some on Pickwick.  I normally never target smallmouth but may be during this tournament.  When I get back I will be winterizing the boat and putting it away for the winter.

Enjoying Fishing
This season I have had some time to go out fishing with my son.  My son does not fish for long but really enjoys being on the boat.  We get out on the water for 2 hours maybe less and he fishes about 30 minutes and watches a movie for the rest of the time.  I think his favorite part is stopping for snacks and packing up the boat with Gatorades and cookies.  Next year I think he might try to spend more time trying to catch fish and not just seeing how far he can cast.  Either way is fun to go out on the boat together.
